Taiga served double duty as DJ & guest at Iris & Henry’s Sheraton LaGuardia East wedding. Iris & Monica (Taiga’s better half) are long time college friends and we are also supporters of the non-profit organization Videre which fights physical & spiritual poverty where she serves as the director of operation.
We are super excited to join Style Me Pretty’s exclusive Little Black Book in 2014. It’s an honor to be considered one of the “best of the best” by such a prominent tastemaker in the wedding landscape.
We here at The Remixologists pride ourselves on being able to multitask. We like to believe that we can do anything for any couple that calls on us. We’ve been DJ’s, emcees, bakers, photographers, audio technicians, video specialists…we even once had a DJ who decided he wanted to be both the DJ and the groom (*ahem* Taiga). Well, I (9-Volt) decided to add to that list by attempting the Best Man/DJ combo/Emcee for my college roommate, Gary’s, Battery Gardens Wedding. Fortunately, rather than leave me to attempt this insanity, DJ Mike was able to come up and handle the DJ/Emcee responsibilities so that I could focus on being the best Best Man I could be (and honestly, we’re all glad he did).
Susan and Gary were married on August 11th at the Battery Gardens in New York City. Though the dancing was cut a bit short, DJ Mike was able to rock the crowd with a mix of Motown and Top 40. In fact, despite only being able to spin for about 40 minutes, DJ Mike kept everyone on the floor the entire time, so 40 minutes felt like 2 hours.
I’ve decided to dedicate Volume 40 of the DJ 9-Volt collection to Susan and Gary. I recorded it in the studio as though it was me who spun the wedding. The first few tracks were the entrance songs for the Bridal Party and the final song was the couple’s first dance. The mix’s title, “Music, Joy, and Love” is a nod to the toast I delivered in their honor. Check out the mix and more pictures from the wedding below!
Congratulations, Susan and Gary. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.. Go Quakers!

We first posted about Rohit & Pia’s awesome multicultural Indian wedding awhile back with a bunch of pictures (see here). Now we have a short old-school feeling wedding highlight video courtesy of James Sengul. Check out the fabulous details of the wedding and the raucous dancing that went on! We played everything from Stevie Wonder, Notorious BIG, Rihanna, Michael Jackson to Bhangra & Bollywood hits mixed in for a great dance party by all. Everybody looked pretty sweaty by the time the evening was done, but they all left with smiles on their faces!
And I wish I could end every night with a visit to the elaborate dessert table & ice cream sandwich cart! 🙂
This is an oldie but goodie! I (Taiga) was invited to spin for the AAJA’s (Asian American Journalists Association) inaugural Trivia Bowl at the ABC TV1 Studio in NYC where they currently film The Chew. You can check out pictures and more tidbits from the event here. Another fun fact… the space the Trivia Bowl was in used to be the set where they filmed the original “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” with good old Regis Philbin. Anyways, thank you for your kind words AAJA!
Dear Simon,
Thank you for your work and superior services as our deejay at AAJA-NY’s inaugural Trivia Bowl Fundraiser held on May 18, 2012 at ABC’s TV1 studio in New York which was hosted by ABC News’ Juju Chang and Fox 5’s Ti-Hua Chang.
Your timing and improvising with the program with impeccable and really made all the difference in our interactive scholarship fundraiser attended by more than 150 media, community, and business leaders.
Event proceeds go toward supporting students who pursue the journalism profession; providing increased training to AAPI journalists so they can be effective leaders for positive change in the industry with a commitment to diversity in the newsroom, and forging stronger ties within the AAPI communities.
AAJA New York is the organization’s largest chapter and has approximately 300 members.
Thank you again on behalf of AAJA-NY and we hope to work with you again in the future.

DJ 9-Volt at Streetwise Partners Taste of Success!
I (Taiga) cannot take credit for this one! Big shout out to our own Washington DC based DJ 9-Volt who made the trip out and rocked Providence NYC all night long! If you want to read more about that fun night, check out his post here.
Streetwise Partners, thank you always for your kind words and it’s always a joy to serve the community in NYC!
Dear Simon,
On behalf of the StreetWise Partners’ network of friends, I would like to thank The Remixologists for making yet another one of our events truly a night to remember! You provided the perfect soundtrack to our fifth annual Taste of Success event, and guests were gushing about what an excellent time they had at the event and after-party. We all look forward to having you at our next fundraiser!
With your support, events like Taste of Success make it possible for StreetWise Partners to continue serving the motivated, low-income job seekers in New York City. Because of your generosity, we can have greater impact and assist under-served individuals in achieving economic self-sufficiency.
As always, we are happy to spread the word about The Remixologists…
Thank you for making Taste of Success such a great event!
Jess & Meggie’s Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain Wedding!
I (Taiga) had so much fun helping Jess & Meggie celebrate their wedding at the Overlook Lodge in Bear Mountain, NY last year (thankfully I did not see any bears up close)! They were so nice throughout the whole planning process and gracious to me on their wedding day. I really enjoyed spinning for them and their family and friends as they danced the night away!
Check out these great pictures courtesy of Brian Hatton Photography and visit his blog to see more from Jess & Meggie’s wedding!
We love spinning all different kinds of events. As you can check out here, the TAP Night Market was super super fun for us! And as you can check out below, everyone had a GREAT TIME! We definitely keep it funky… in a good way of course. 🙂
Dear DJ Taiga and The Remixologists,
Thank you for your amazing DJ and sound services at our 1st Annual Night Market in downtown New York on April 13, 2012. You provided the beats and the funk to get the crowd moving and swaying throughout the night. With a mind-numbing 500+ people in attendance, you guys were professional and fun and we really appreciated that. We heard many people tell us positive comments about the music and the vibe and we can’t thank you enough. I highly recommend DJ Taiga to other organizations that are looking for a fly DJ and look forward to working with you guys again soon.
