Our favorite part of this gig is the people we get to meet.

No joke—being part of your story is a huge privilege and something we’re super stoked for. We have met some of the most incredible people by mixing for their events and weddings, and every new connection is special to us.

From the bottom of our hearts—we’re big softies over here, shhh. don’t tell anyone— thank you for considering Remixologists for your event.

FAQ

What music genres do you play?

We can comfortably cover music from the last 70 years from soul to funk to disco to rock, swing, ballroom, 80s, 90s, pop, hip hop, reggae, R&B, electro, top 40 to international flavors like Afrobeat, Bhangra/Bollywood, K-Pop, Arabic/Persian, & even cultural folk music—Ukrainian, Croatian, and Jewish to name a few.  For cocktail hour & dinner music we usually opt for the soothing sounds of jazz, R&B, soul, and soft rock, but we curate all of our playlists to your taste. In any case, we’re able to mix it all together seamlessly and chart the course for an amazing day or night: from a classy ambiance at dinner to a smashing dance party to cap things off!

Can you emcee our event?

Of course! We can make all announcements and introductions during your event—our style errs on the side of subtlety, but that’s just to keep the focus on you!

Can I meet with you for a consultation before booking?

Absolutely! Your event is mighty important and we encourage prospective clients to meet with us (via Zoom or phone call) to get to know us and what we do.

How far do you travel?

Better question: where are you headed? All kidding aside, we primarily serve the New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC regions, as well as all of the surrounding areas (Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, etc.) But, we love to travel—so consider us available for your destination, North, South, Midwest, and West Coast weddings.

How much do you charge?

Every occasion is different—seriously. No two weddings or parties are the same, which means we quote every event based on the specific details of the celebration. You can find out more about the “average” Remixologist wedding on our RMXTS weddings page, but again—we only really believe in average in the mathematical sense.

What kind of equipment do you use?

We believe in using quality products, so we use only the best sounding & most reliable equipment around. If you really want the nitty-gritty: our standard packages feature full-range dB & RCF Italian-made speakers & subwoofers, Pioneer CDJ turntables, Pioneer Professional Grade DJ Controllers, Rane & Pioneer mixers, and Shure SM58 cordless microphones.

Can you provide sound systems for the ceremony and/or cocktail hour?

We have an extensive inventory of sound equipment and can provide cordless microphones as well as small, compact speakers for your wedding ceremony and/or cocktail hour. In addition, if there are any live “performances” during your special day (e.g., a song during the ceremony or your friend serenading you for your first dance), we can provide cordless microphones and sound engineering services.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have full liability insurance and can provide proof to venues when necessary.

What happens if you’re suddenly unavailable (ex. sick, etc) on the day of the event?

We’re a team of talented DJs with an extensive inventory of equipment, so there’s always a backup plan. We’ve navigated delayed flights, hurricanes, blizzards and closed venues—and we’ve never missed a wedding that actually happened. If you’ve got concerns, holler at us, and we can chat through them!

What do you wear to an event?

We generally arrive in a dark, tailored suit, but we will happily adapt to the dress code that best fits your event—like the time Simon went as Sheriff Hooper to the Stranger Things premiere. (It was a costume party, which is good, because he might’ve done it anyway.)

Do you take requests?

We certainly can! We encourage our clients to make both a “request list” and a “do not play list.” From those lists, we get a good sense of what our clients like/dislike and use that to customize a soundtrack that reflects their uniqueness. And for day-of requests from your guests, we’ll defer to your preference, and handle them as graciously as possible!

Do you play explicit or clean versions of songs?

It’s totally up to you! We can keep it clean as a whistle, dirty like a college dorm bathroom, or somewhere in between.
