We have spun the WIVP (Wharton International Volunteer Program) Winter Ball the past few years & it’s always a blast. This particular year was held at the Loews Hotel Philadelphia. What you read & see is totally true, business school folks know how to party!
Every so often we get the opportunity to help people in need & do something cool in the process. Back in December, DJ Mike & Taiga teamed up with special guest MC DJ Bonics to provide the tunes for Rescue/Revive/Rebuild, a fundraiser for the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund held at Yard’s Brewing Company in Philadelphia.
Taiga & Colin were honored to spin White Roof Project’s Paint The Town White Fundraiser in the heart of New York City! We love helping out non-profits organizations raise awareness and serve the community.
For the third year in a row, The Remixologists were invited to spin Streetwise Partners‘ Taste of Success fundraisers. The event featured food and wine from some of New York’s hottest proprietors, and it was all for a good cause. The event stands out among the things we’ve done, not just because it was for a good cause or because it was hosted by some great people, but because it’s definitely the longest event I’ve had to DJ solo, and believe me – I’ve been a part of some marathon DJ sessions.
The event itself began with an Executive Reception from 6:30-7:30 on April 19th at the Providence in midtown New York City. This was immediately followed by the main event which lasted until 10pm. But things didn’t end there. At 10pm, the party moved downstairs to the club area of the Providence and lasted until 1am. Talk about full day!
We’re honored to have been a part of this worthwhile event, and look forward to working with StreetWise again in the future.
Join us on June 6th (next week!) as we help StreetWise Partners celebrate their 15th anniversary of transforming lives in NYC at the Edison Ballroom! It will be a night of food, drinks, and fun from the finest in NYC including STK, Mercadito, Yerba Buena, Luke’s Lobster, Heineken, Trump Winery & many more (full list below.) And for the Top Chef lovers, finalist Dave Martin will be in attendance and serving up his world famous truffle mac n’ cheese, chocolate mousse, and more! And of course The Remixologists will be providing the tunes for the evening along with a special jazz band performance.

We were honored to help the Asian American Journalists Association’s New York chapter in producing & spinning their inaugural Trivia Bowl at the ABCTV1 studios in New York City last year!
Sixteen teams competed — from the New York Times, CNN, Asian American Bar Association to the CUNY Association of Black Journalists — to win the coveted Tea Cup trophy and bragging rights for the year. Real judges from the New York area including the Honorable Marilyn D. Go, and the Honorable John Lansden, scored answers and ABC News Correspondent Juju Chang and FOX 5 reporter Ti-Hua Chang served as the evening’s emcees.
My favorite part of the night was when I dropped Hypnotize as the judges deliberated an answer for the Notorious BIG’s hometown (Clinton Hill vs Bedstuy… both answers were deemed correct). The timing was perfect as NYC crowd erupted in cheers!
And the winner of the Tea Cup trophy? The team from the New York Times!

Here is the conclusion of the SXSW mix we made for Translation LLC’s party honoring Steve Stoute & Nas earlier this last year in Austin, TX. Enjoy this 96 minutes party smash of hip hop, dubstep, and indie! I’ve been told by friends (and clients) that they have solo dance parties while listening to this in the privacy of their own homes. I would totally judge them, but I can’t since I do the same. So dance away! 🙂

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) holds a special place in all of The Remixologists’ hearts. We all started our respective DJ careers on campus and have literally logged thousands of hours DJ’ing parties for student organizations, fraternities, sororities, museums, and university groups. We’ve become one of UPenn’s go-to DJ companies for homecoming and reunion weekend, and I (DJ Mike) was extremely excited when the University asked me to DJ the 10-year reunion for the class of 2002. While I always look forward to returning to campus and DJ’ing for my alma mater, this event would be even more special, given that it was the 10-year reunion of our very own DJ 9-Volt (Tristan).
The reunion was held on campus at the World Café Live!, and DJ 9-Volt and I made sure that everyone in attendance was able to dance the night away to many of the tracks we rocked during their undergraduate days. Not only was it great seeing so many long-time friends and familiar faces, but it was also priceless being able to play some “classics” from artists such as Shanice, Fat Joe, Cam’ron, DJ Sammy, Mario, Missy, Aaliyah, Nelly, Puff Daddy, City High, B2K, Cutty Ranks, N’ Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Michael Jackson (just to name a few).
Here is part 3 of the SXSW Mix we made for Translation LLC’s party honoring Steve Stoute & Nas. You definitely feel like you’re in the club here with the indie dance and pop house remixes peppered in.
If you just stumbled onto this post, check out parts 1 (here) and 2 (here). Part 4 coming soon…
